JCW Acoustic Plasterboard

JCW Acoustic Plasterboard has a higher density core than standard building plasterboard, making it a good noise blocker when used on stud walls or timber joisted ceilings.

With the high volumes of noise experienced in many areas today, you may sometimes require a plasterboard that delivers exceptionally high levels of sound insulation. When you do, this is the product to use.

JCW Acoustic Plasterboard is easy to install and also has a good impact resistance.

About Acoustic Plasterboard

JCW Acoustic Plasterboard delivers exceptionally high levels of sound insulation. It is usually used in combination with other JCW soundproofing products in areas experiencing high volumes of noise and where a substantial improvement in acoustic performance is required. It is especially effective when used on lightweight partition systems, installed on the underside of timber joisted ceilings or used together with JCW Vibrablock.

DIY Installation Guide (general guidance only)

General – Observe appropriate personal health and safety when working with this product, like protective clothing, gloves and goggles when cutting with a power tool. The following notes are intended as general guidance only. Always store this product flat, taking great care to protect all edges and corners from damage.

Handling – Avoid unnecessary strain when offloading this product

Cutting – This product can be cut using a plasterboard saw or by scoring with a sharp knife and snapping the board over a straight edge. Holes for switches or socket boxes should be cut out before the boards are fixed using a utility saw or sharp knife

Fixing – Fix boards with decorative side facing out to receive joint treatment or skim plaster finish. Lightly butt the boards together. Never force boards into position. Install fixings not closer than 13mm from cut edges and 10mm from bound edges. Position cut edges to internal angles, removing paper burrs with fine grade sandpaper. Stagger horizontal and vertical board joints between layers by a minimum of 600mm. Locate boards to the centre line of framing where this supports board edges or ends.
